The triathlon is the fastest growing sport in cycling. More triathlon events I frequent, I do not see why. Today's article is Donna Chapman a runner and triathlete, and a wife and mother of 3 girls love. Much of my work revolves around improving performance, and today I want to write about performing in the real world. Everything is easy in life when things are going well. When things start to hit a fan, however, we see a variation of success and failure, winning, lose and exuberance and exasperation.
Donna took his bicycle in San Antonio for a pre-assessment of health of the race and I for the sealing of the tubes to help minimize the potential for a plate. I got to tease Donna needs a bit of learning to adjust the speed and lubricating the chain and after some laughter, she and her bike were happy to North Austin. Everything was ready for participation in triathlon Donna couples in Austin, where she and her husband Dave were planning a podium.
I went to the triathlon to photograph my friends to an online album, as is my brand, and of course, I took Dave and Donna at the beginning of the bike leg, both moving along elegance. I had time after the competitors had started the leg of the bike to run transition area to photography of people from their bikes. Everyone had to disassemble quite close to the bottom line and if someone gets too close, they were spotted by volunteers cousin Leilani and Ron Perry. Nothing escapes them!
I snapped pictures of beautiful people and was just watching the expressions, the way some people was graciously walking barefoot on the sidewalk and others leave their shoes on the bike and it seemed Cycling riders stop for a drink, others run like crazy, and then here comes Donna, sternly, running with his bike of the road. The rear tire was ripped from the rim and holding her shoes, the soles of the feet black dirt road that had formed.
Donna was not upset, but highly targeted. She hit the transition zone, crashed the bike and refocused its efforts on the race. I was taking photos all time as is documented in an online album. This would be a great story! I did not know he had a big problem on the road. This is what happened. Donna past people and because the number of persons by road, had to go into a huge pothole. The front wheel can spearheaded the hole, but the back a step. He hit the hole so hard that the tire exploded and Donna went off the road into the ditch, still at the helm! After regaining the road, was found with the bike unrideable and as it was just a mile from the transition, he decided it was faster to hit the pavement and run barefoot on the bike to try with a change in probe over the tire may have been too damaged to use.
The purpose of this is, activities like this puts us in situations that are beyond our control. We have an important choice in time, but little time to do. Donna remained cool, focused and rapid assessment little impact on other things besides egos hurt, feet and less time. Compare this with the consequences that can happen in life, and it is not surprising that people are "involved" use sport to train and improve all aspects of life.
I'm always impressed by the performance of a person, but I'm very impressed when that person overcomes adversity with class, race calmly, not in the short run, retrieve, learn and ultimately improve things, as the force and endurance, work capacity and ability to solve problems. Donna Bravo for a job well done to all who come and go beyond your comfort zone and expand their limits!
